AI-assisted search has created a new version of an old marketing question: how does the business become a useful source when someone is researching a problem? The temptation is to look for a special format that forces a citation. A more durable approach is to improve the answer and the evidence behind it.
There is no guarantee that an AI system will mention a page, even when the content is strong. Different products use different retrieval and presentation methods, and those methods can change.

Answer a defined question directly
Give the page a clear subject and explain the main point early. Use headings that describe the questions being answered. A reader should be able to identify what the business knows, what it recommends and where the limitations sit.
For example, a guide to choosing lead-form questions can provide a field-purpose checklist and an illustrative review. A broad page that repeatedly says the company is innovative gives a research system—and a human buyer—much less concrete information to work with.
Make evidence inspectable
Link to primary documentation for changing platform facts. Explain calculations and label hypothetical examples. Identify the author or editorial responsibility and keep dates accurate. Do not update a date merely to make unchanged content look new.
When discussing client work, state the actual scope and retain permission and context. Original examples are valuable when they are real or clearly labelled as demonstrations. Fabricated statistics weaken the page regardless of how polished the design is.
Keep the site technically accessible
Ensure important information appears in a usable page, with normal links and an understandable content structure. Check that relevant pages are publicly accessible and not unintentionally excluded from indexing. Structured data, when used, should match visible content.
Google's guidance for its AI search features says established SEO practices remain relevant and does not require special AI-specific optimisation to appear. That guidance applies to Google's features; it should not be stretched into a claim about every AI product.
Build depth through connected material
Connect a practical article to related explanations and the relevant service. A reader researching measurement may need event definitions, attribution context and a reporting example. These pages should contribute different answers rather than repeat the same introduction under new titles.
Use consistent terminology, but preserve the detail that makes each page useful. A content library becomes stronger when its pieces explain a subject coherently and can be maintained together.
Measure visibility without inventing certainty
Where referral information or search reporting is available, review it alongside actual enquiries and customer feedback. A manual prompt test is only a snapshot; it is not a stable ranking report or evidence that all users receive the same answer.
Maintain a small record of observed mentions, source pages and dates, and distinguish those observations from estimated reach. The business objective remains relevant discovery and qualified conversations. Clear, trustworthy content supports that objective even when no AI system cites it.
